Looking out in the distance,
The path seems to blur;
Where land meets the sky,
I can not be sure.
A thick blanket of white,
Untouched and pristine;
Laid out like a carpet,
Not a step to be seen.
As if a million diamonds,
All glistening with light;
The snow dances with sparkles,
Such a wondrous sight.
Standing proud and tall,
And lined up in rows;
Branches leaning outward,
Touching tips in a bow.
I walk under the canopy,
All about is so calm;
No wind blows the pines,
The needles making no song.
A lone snowflake falls,
I am transfixed by its flight;
Sheer beauty in motion,
No more beautiful a sight.
It looks cold up ahead,
With the absence of color;
Mittens warm on my hands,
My breath will they hover.
My steps make a sound,
The only sound I hear;
Crunching through the white,
It tickles my ears.
I am completely enchanted,
By the peace and the quiet;
The solitude beckons,
A beaming ray of light.
I love poetry and I really enjoy reading your blog. Thanks for sharing this post. Feel free to stop by sometime.
Raining Purple Rain
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoy reading. I will certainly stop by blog as well. 🙂
You’ve done it again. Ahhhh sometimes, at this time of year, I need reminding of how lovely snow is…but mostly, I need to just slow down and wait… lovely poem…it reminds me to Just slow down and wait!
Thanks Marilyn, I took some photos of my flowers from my “Pots of Joy” and will be working on a new one for you with pics. 🙂
That was such a strong piece that I was there. And it felt exhilirating.

Marvelously written!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. I have a fondness for snow.
Although I’ve had enough snow for this year, “Peace and Quiet” reminded me of a day in my youth. All was white except for a plowed road. There was no traffic, no dogs barking, and no sound except for the wind. Blowing snow danced around my feet, pacing me as I walked along that road. It was the most peaceful moment I can remember.
I love the way you describe each and every part of your existence, being grateful for all that is. That peacefulness is carried through your writing very eloquently and it is this that flows with ease through this expression of experience. Extremely beautiful and very serene piece. Well done, and a very Happy Spring to you. Enjoy! 🙂
Wow! Thank you so much Ana.

Don’t you just love the quiet and beauty of a snowscape?
The world seems all tucked in, a white blanket up to its chin, and for me the beauty is all around, the snow absorbing the sound. You took me on the walk with you, although you didn’t notice, for I was quiet as another snowflake. Thanks for sharing your delightful poem.
Bravo! And, thank you. 🙂
beautiful imagery..
Thank you Robin.
Crunching through the white,
It tickles my ears – I smiled at this expression.
Like the images you have created here, so serene.
P.S: Thanks for reading me. 🙂

Very sweet. This felt like just the beginning of the poem that sets the scene beautifully and entices the reader imagination before going on to tell a whole story! Thanks for sharing.
How beautiful! Your words took me to a place of calm … and I wanted to be walking right through that winter wonderland. 🙂
Thank you. I just love the snow and the mountains. I’m glad you liked it.
